Frequently Asked Questions

Straight Answers from the Engineers Who Built It

We know CNC buying decisions come with questions — real ones that matter to real builders. Below you'll find clear, direct answers about ownership, setup, maintenance, and performance.

Pre-Purchase Questions

What's the difference between the Fusion Pro models?

All Fusion Pro CNCs share the same frame design, drive system, and electronics. The only differences are cutting size, and spindle power (2.2 kW or 4.0 kW).

Can I upgrade later to a larger spindle?

Yes. The system was engineered with modular components. You can upgrade from a 2.2 kW to a 4.0 kW spindle without replacing your entire machine.

Do I need a dedicated 220 V line?

Yes. Both spindle options require a 220 V power source. The controller and accessories operate on standard outlets.

What materials can it cut?

The Fusion Pro is designed for woodworking, plastics, foam, and composite materials. It's not marketed or warranted for machining metals.

Is assembly required?

Yes. Each machine ships with subassemblies, parts and instructions. Assembly is a two-person job and can typically be completed in about one workday (≈ 8 hours) using the provided tools and instructions.

Can I use my own design software?

Yes. Fusion CNC supports most CAD/CAM software that exports standard GRBL G-code via compatible post-processors, including VCarve, Aspire, and Fusion 360.

Setup & Operation

How long does setup take?

Most owners can complete setup and calibration in a long day. A detailed guide and video resources walk you through each step.

Is calibration difficult?

Not at all. The machine uses internal contactless limit switches and pre-set firmware parameters. A brief tramming and zeroing procedure ensures optimal accuracy.

How accurate is the Fusion Pro?

Positional repeatability averages < 0.01 in under load, with minimal deflection thanks to its ball-screw drives and rigid frame.

Does it require lubrication?

The machine ships pre-lubricated and includes easy-access ports for long-term service. For standard use, lubrication is typically needed every six months or as required based on workload and environment.

What control software is included?

The Fusion Pro ships with OpenBuilds Control pre-installed on a Windows 11 touchscreen PC. Additional compatible software options are under evaluation.

Maintenance & Support

What kind of maintenance does it need?

Visual checks weekly, spindle cleaning monthly, and lubrication roughly every six months under normal operation. Keep dust off linear rails and inspect bolts periodically.

What if something goes wrong?

You'll have direct access to Fusion CNC's U.S.-based support team. Most issues can be diagnosed remotely with photo or video assistance.

Can I order replacement parts?

Yes. Common components and consumables are stocked at our Albuquerque facility. Simply contact support or log into your customer portal.

Do you provide training?

Absolutely. Every owner has access to our online Fusion CNC Learning Hub, featuring setup videos, workflow tutorials, and ongoing educational content.

Shipping, Lead Time & Warranty

How long is the wait time?

Initial production runs are in high demand. Current lead time averages 4 – 6 months as we fulfill early orders. This timeframe will shorten as manufacturing scales.

Do you ship nationwide?

Yes. All machines are crated, insured, and shipping is included anywhere within the continental U.S.

What's covered under warranty?

All Fusion Pro CNCs include a 1-year limited warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. Extended coverage options are available.

Do you offer returns?

Yes, within 30 days for standard configurations, subject to inspection and restocking policy.

Technical Options

What's the difference between the 2.2 kW and 4.0 kW spindles?

The 2.2 kW spindle is quieter and ideal for lighter work. The 4.0 kW spindle maintains torque and stability on dense materials and larger toolpaths.
